Los frutos de la tierra es una serie mayor de la cual estos retratos forman parte. Tomados en Maito, mi pueblo natal en Colombia, cada imagen muestra a una persona con aquello que la tierra y su trabajo les ha dejado: granos de café, frutas, animales, símbolos de una vida ligada a la labor y a la memoria. Algunas de las personas retratadas son parte de mis propias raíces y familia, lo que convierte esta obra en un testimonio íntimo tanto colectivo como personal. Estas fotografías buscan honrar la dignidad del trabajo campesino y la intimidad de cada rostro, revelando cómo la tierra no solo da sustento, sino también identidad, orgullo y pertenencia. Al sostener en sus manos los frutos de la tierra, los retratados también sostienen la historia y la resistencia de una comunidad.
The Fruits of the Earth is a larger series of which these portraits are a part. Taken in Maito, my hometown in Colombia, each image shows a person holding what the land and their labor have given them: coffee beans, fruits, animals—symbols of a life rooted in work and memory. Some of the people portrayed are part of my own roots and family, making this work both a collective and deeply personal testimony. These photographs seek to honor the dignity of rural labor and the intimacy of each face, revealing how the land provides not only sustenance, but also identity, pride, and belonging. By holding the fruits of the earth in their hands, the sitters also hold the history and resilience of an entire community.
